NIE & TIE appointment prep
Extranjería offices turn people away for a missing photocopy. Pick your appointment and get the exact list of what to bring — plus the tips that save a second visit.
Bring with you
Worth knowing
The three classic turn-aways
Almost every wasted appointment is one of these.
Unpaid tasa
The government fee (tasa 790) must be paid at a bank before the appointment, and you bring the stamped form as proof. Paying "there" is not an option.
Stale padrón
The empadronamiento certificate is usually only accepted when issued within the last three months. Request a fresh one the week of your appointment.
Wrong photo size
The TIE photo is carnet size (32×26mm), not passport size. Any photo shop in Spain knows "foto de carnet" — get it done locally.
Appointments booked and prepped
Clients get their appointment booked, the forms pre-filled and the exact list for their office — this page is the generic version.
