-
Beyond our visas
A qualified attorney can advise on immigration matters and visa categories that fall outside the services we handle in-house.
Spanish citizenship by residency
Most foreigners become Spanish citizens after a continuous period of legal residence. Here's the path at a glance — Douaa can confirm exactly how it applies to your nationality and history.
-
Build legal residence
Live in Spain legally and continuously on a residence permit, renewing it as required.
-
Reach your residency threshold
Ten years is the general rule — reduced to 2 years for nationals of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal or Sephardic Jews, and just 1 year in certain cases such as marriage to a Spanish citizen.
-
Pass the exams
Sit the DELE A2 Spanish language exam and the CCSE test on Spanish constitutional and sociocultural knowledge (both run by the Instituto Cervantes).
-
Submit your application
File your nationality application with the supporting documents — birth certificate, criminal-record checks, proof of residence and integration.
-
Resolution & oath
Once approved, swear allegiance to the King and the Constitution, then register the nationality in the Civil Registry.
-
Spanish passport & DNI
Apply for your Spanish DNI and passport — and check whether you may keep your original nationality.
This is general information, not legal advice — citizenship rules depend on your nationality and personal circumstances. Book a consultation for advice tailored to your case.
